Greenish Gray Folk-style Scholar-Official Tomb Guardians

18th-19th century, Korea

These poksu guardians would have stood at entrance to village or Buddhist temples, before a gate to a walled fortress or by the roadside. In addition to their role as guardian, they serve as border marker and milestone. they may face each other or stand side by side.
